Daisy Sessions are a great way to get some portraits of your kids without having a full Lily Session.  Daisy Sessions are special events and I plan to have one in the fall.  Everyone loves to have those autumn portraits, so it’s a great way for me to fit everyone into my limited schedule!

Thanks again for everyone that entered and voted!  It was such a success that I plan on doing it again next year!

We able to fight off the rain long enough to get some great images to celebrate her first year.  Yaddo is one of my very favorite places to have a session!  So beautiful with all of the flowers, statues, stonework and iron gates.

We followed that up with some lunch at Delz Dawgs.  I did take some pictures, but decided that no one should be subject to seeing how my children eat!  You can see above the damage they do to strawberries….I’m sure you can imagine what they do to grilled cheese and french fries!

After naptime and dinner the girls (and the fuzzy boy) and I headed over to the Schodack Town Park for a hike.  Little did I realize it was a Music in the Park night!  I decided to stick to the trails and enjoy the music while hiking because, well….I was dressed for a hike and only a hike!  If you are from a small town you’ll understand that the chances of me running into someone I know what about 99% likely and while I’m not a froufy person, I prefer to keep my sweatpants and no-makeup look to myself.  In the end I did run into someone I knew from church (told you so!), but I think I’ll get over it.

I love the trails at the park for hiking with our new pup.  I also love this park for photo sessions!  It’s a great place to romp in the creek or stop at a bench for some family photo’s (though I think it would be fun if I could get a mom and dad up for some family shots playing it the creek!).

Benji has been an answer to our prayers.  I have always firmly believed that your pets will find you.  Such is the case with this little guy.  We have been passively searching for a couple of months – checking out breeders and looking at local shelters.   While waiting for our application to go through a local shelter (Homeward Bound – a FABULOUS organization!) I received a forwarded email about this little guy needing a home.  He could not have been more perfect – a yorkie (on our wishlist) and almost 1 year (exactly the age range I wanted).

And the clincher?  His name is Benjamin (Benji for short).  Our beloved ferret who passed away several years ago, the one who thought I was his mommy was named Benjamin.  We called him Benny.

It’s like it was meant to be!  Plus, look at this sweet face, how could you not fall in love immediately?

Something as simple as a new lens can breathe new creative life into a photographer.  I’ve never been an equipment junkie photographer.  I’ve always preferred to keep my aresenal quite simple because I’ve always held the belief that it is not the equipment that makes an image, it’s the artist.  While I still hold this belief, it is so much fun to get a new goody in the mail and start playing!

Now, if only I had children who were not affected by Photographer’s Child Syndrome.  This sad affliction only affects children of photographers (hobbyist and professional).  It seems that children have a breaking point of having their photo taken, and mine reached that years ago.  They will humor me for about 2.3 minutes and let me take a few.  I’ll take what I can get.
