Session Information

How far in advance should I book my session?

Please call at least a month in advance.  I have very limited availability since I take so few clients per month.  If you are interested in having a session during autumn, I highly suggest contacting me by July.  It is by far my busiest season since everyone loves to have their photo’s with the fall colors.  For newborn sessions please call before you reach your 8th month and I’ll block out some time for you around your due date.

Where do we go for our session?

Anywhere!  I can come to your home or I have a list of locations that includes public parks and trails.  I will help you choose your location based on the kind of feeling you want from your final images.

How long does a session take?

Expect a session to take 1 to 2 hours.  The older your children are, generally the less time it takes.  I like to leave that amount of time open though for any little one’s that need a snack or a break during the session.  It also gives children some time to warm up to me so I can start seeing the personality that you love so much and want to capture.

What should I wear?

I love everything from classic styles and colors to funky and fun styles!  I highly suggest you stay away from clothing with characters or writing on them.  It can be very distracting in photo’s.  If you are trying to coordinate your family I am more then happy to assist you in your clothing choices, please ask me for help if you are having a hard time putting a look together.  My advice to you is NOT to match, but to coordinate.  Choose clothing that you feel comfortable in and that you’ll be able to play and have fun in (because sometimes I have my families laying on the ground or climbing up on fences).   Think about fun accessories for the kids like hats, umbrellas and belts.  Things like balloons and colorful bubble wands can add a touch of fun to your images!

What do we DO at a session?

While the images may look effortless there is a lot of thought and work that go into them.  Most importantly I want you to have fun, but I want to make everyone look their best while doing it.  Kids are usually ready to get right into playing and I jump right into taking images.   With family images I do start with some more formal poses and as everyone starts warming up and having some fun I may suggest some silly poses or have you start walking and playing with your kids.    You can expect me to chose different setting at your location so we can have all different looks and poses to choose from.  It also helps keep little one’s occupied and interested to have new things to look at and explore.   The bottom line though is that I want everyone to be comfortable and have fun.   I simply am there to direct the flow of fun and capture the beauty of the moment for you!

What happens afterward?

An in-person ordering session at your home.  I bring 5×7 proofs of your images to your home along with sample products and you place your order.  I can help you choose the products that best work for your family.  If you want to create a photo display on your wall I love to help design layouts that you can build on for years to come.
